ย And just like that, it’s 2023. I feel like I flew through this year. Did anyone else cruise through 2022?
At the end of every year, I use this time to reflect on my personal and professional goals tied into my yearly blogging experience. I still strive to write down my dreams with a vision board. Writing down your vision is scriptural, as it says in Habakkuk 2:2-3. And it’s even more powerful to speak those words often.
Reflecting on 2022, I see more than a few colleagues’ lives cut short by death, some younger than me and others in their mid-60s. I’m thankful even through the pandemic, and I stayed healthy and COVID-free. How? I’m vigilant about routine preventative care appointments, sleeping no less than 8 hours per night, and walking a few days per week. But most importantly, I pray Psalm 91 daily over my family, friends, and myself.
As I’m returning to the joy of living post-COVID, I didn’t cruise through 2022. I did indulge in a few of my favorite things in 2022:
In February, I celebrated a milestone birthday with my daughter, Channing, at the Pocono resortย Akwaaba, the Mansion at Noble Lane.
My horticultural delights: Philly Flower Show and Christmas at Longwood Gardens
I discovered what was happening with escapes to Washington, D.C., and finally saw the Broadway play Hamilton in the Big Apple.
With my commitment to buy better, buy less, I discovered more female-led minority-owned fashion businesses:
Kimberly Goldson
Fe Noel
Kai Collective
It’s worth mentioning a 2021 discovery, Estelle Colored Glass.
How about a George Benson concert at the historic Howard Theater in Washington, D.C?
For nearly ten years, I’ve journaled my life experiences and moments; my annual birthday is documented here to make sure I’m aging gracefully. Photos don’t lie.
Self-care spa getaways at the Hotel Hershey, the first time staying at the Woodside Cottages wearing my minority-owned Kai Collective robe and head scarf.
Another New York City getaway to attend the Laura Geller 25th Anniversary soirรฉe at the Ladurรฉe in Soho.
While in the Big Apple in December, the Louis Vuitton “200 Trunks, 200 Visionaries:ย The Exhibition” at the reimagined Barney’s building.
A career milestone, 25 years in the pharmaceutical industry, and an MVP Award in Q2.
Continued virtual and financial support of Uncommon Threats through donations and purchases from Hermรจs scarf and One Hope Wine that directly benefit financially challenged women in the Lawrence, Massachusetts, area.
The Uncommon Threads Boutique 2022 year accomplished its mission:
Over 2,730 women received beautiful new clothes
styling tips while feeling empowered and joyful.
As I captured all my experiences this year, perhaps I didn’t cruise through 2022. Nevertheless, I look forward to 2023 being even better. If you know me, you know I say the best is yet to come. Have a fantastic 2023.
