Sustainable Spotlight: Custom Jewel Colored Glass Products Made in Poland

In August, I shared my brands’ intention to focus on reducing my carbon footprint. In today’s post, I’m formally moving toward that goal—my sustainable spotlight on Estelle Colored Glass.

As midlifers aren’t we all looking for ways to connect with similar people on a mission in life?

Custom Hand Blown Glass Products

I teamed up with a group of like-minded Instagammers. Why? Their focus is on or moving toward sustainability, after a few Zoom meetings and discussions on the importance of forging a movement. We agreed on “home” as our first theme.

Here’s the thing about themed group collaborations, everyone has an opportunity to express themselves and interpret “home” as they see it pertains to sustainability and their brand.

My focus, an intentional purchase, is featuring the craftsmanship of a hand-blown glass jewel-toned colored glass cake stand made in Poland. This investment piece works perfectly for the sustainable spotlight home theme.

My Christmas Tablescape

If you didn’t see the post on my IG Channel, it’s the unboxing of my Estelle Colored Glass stand. I contacted the company about which color to select to compliment my china. I chose the rose color over the pink.

The inspiration for this Black-owned business, from founder Stephanie Hall’s antique shopping trips with her grandmother Estelle, quickly became her passion.

Estelle Colored Glass

The Estelle Colored Glass collection features original commissioned pieces made by glass artisans in Poland. The former attorney turned businesswoman started the vintage-inspired glassware in October 2019.  Today, the brand carries hand-blown and cake stands in 12 pastel colors with a recent expansion of jewel tones.

In 2017 while visiting Pittsburgh’s Heinz History Center’s permanent glass exhibit, Glass:  Shattering Notions, I learned glass factories were prevalent in western Pennsylvania as early as 1797. By the Civil War, the Pittsburgh region reigned as the center of the nation’s glass industry.

Glass is a sustainable, fully recyclable, and recycled material.

The sustainable spotlight for the home can also mean something recycled, repurposed, and refinished products. Also, eco-friendly fabrics, fair-trade products, or handmade, to name a few.
