Estelle Colored Glass
In August, I shared my brand’s intention to reduce my carbon footprint. In today’s post, I’m formally moving toward that goalโmy sustainable spotlight on Estelle Colored Glass.
As midlifers, aren’t we all looking for ways to connect with similar people on a mission in life?
I teamed up with a group of like-minded Instagammers. Why? After a few Zoom meetings and discussions on the importance of forging a movement, the focus is on moving toward sustainability. We agreed on “home” as our first theme.
Here’s the thing about themed group collaborations: everyone can express themselves and interpret “home” as they see it pertains to sustainability and their brand.
My intentional purchase focuses on the craftsmanship of a hand-blown jewel-toned colored glass cake stand made in Poland. This investment piece works perfectly for the sustainable spotlight home theme.
If you didn’t see the post on my IG Channel, it’s the unboxing of my Estelle Colored Glassย stand. I contacted the company about which color to select to compliment my china. I chose the rose color over the pink.
Founder Stephanie Hall’s antique shopping trips with her grandmother, Estelle, inspired this black-owned business, which quickly became her passion.
History of Estelle Colored Glass
The Estelle Colored Glass collection features original commissioned pieces made by glass artisans in Poland. The former attorney turned businesswoman started the vintage-inspired glassware in October 2019.ย Today, the brand carries hand-blown and cake stands in 12 pastel colors with a recent expansion of jewel tones.
In 2017, while visiting Pittsburgh’s Heinz History Center’s permanent glass exhibit, Glass: Shattering Notions, I learned that glass factories were prevalent in western Pennsylvania as early as 1797. By the Civil War, the Pittsburgh region reigned as the center of the nation’s glass industry.
Glass is a sustainable, fully recyclable, and recycled material.
The sustainable spotlight for the home can also mean recycled, repurposed, and refinished products, eco-friendly fabrics, fair-trade products, or handmade, to name a few.
