Orange, you are going to love fall? Learn why fall is my favorite time of the year.
It’s Sustainable Spotlight time again. The agreed-upon theme for the Sustainable Spotlight October post, the color orange for fall.
Instead of focusing on a sustainable item for the newly created focus, I plan to share a family tradition from my childhood that involves why I relish fall.
The tradition involves the color orange. I recall childhood memories of my family driving from Philly to Ott’s in Schwenksville for mums and pumpkins every year. That family legacy expanded but continued with my children. A great adventure at Ashcombe Farms for a horse-drawn hayride, lunch, and of course, mums and pumpkins.
Orange is the color associated with fall, not just for the pumpkins. But the seasonal changes of the leaves on the trees to orange, yellow, red, rust, and brown.
An incredible time of the year to see nature unfold before our eyes, brilliant colors then the shedding of the leaves the going dormant until the rebirth in the spring.
Fall is more than just the color orange; more childhood memories remembering the harvest shared from my maternal grandmother’s garden. The cooler crisp temperatures for fall homecoming celebrations and the soon joyous thanksgiving.
To commit to sustainable living, I don’t contribute to decorating waste by purchasing disposable items. I stick to organic choices like pumpkins and usually mums.
