We all agree that spring is spectacular, with trees coming alive from dormancy and blooming, daffodils, hyacinths, and tulip bulbs bursting forth. But a Candlelight Concert featuring Vivaldi’s Four Seasons is the ultimate way to celebrate spring.
I recently discovered the Candlelight Concerts through the eye-catching images with candles on social media. Exploring Instagram and TikTok earlier this year, I found Tea Around Town, Holland Ridge Tulips Farms, and the City Experience in Washington, D.C.ย Social media is the way to discover new experiences.
History of the Candlelight Concerts
The first Candlelight Concert took place in Madrid in 2019, but it has since spread to over 100 cities across the globe, including Calgary, in 2020. Fever, a global online site, organizes, lists, and sells tickets for live entertainment.
I live in a small town in the U.S.A., and the options for fabulous entertainment are sparse. I must often venture to a larger city to see my favorite groups or seek entertainment. Remember my last concert post-COVID-19, George Benson in Washington, D.C., at the historic Howard Theater?
The Whitaker Center for Science and Arts opened in 1999 and has since become an essential venue for arts and culture in Harrisburg. My husband and I have attended l many Smooth Jazz Concerts at the Sunoco Performing Arts Center, located within the Whitaker Center. We’ve enjoyed seeing some of our favorite smooth jazz musicians perform. Additionally, our daughter Channing volunteered at the Whitaker Center Stars progrman during high school.
Smooth jazz is my preferred music genre. Nevertheless, bravo to Candlelight Concerts for the all-female string quartet, showcasing local talent performing classical music.
Vivaldi’s classic Four Seasons still resonates after 300 hundred years. Who doesn’t appreciate Vivaldi’s timeless composition? It feels like traveling back in time to 1725 but with the added magic of LED lights. I left the Candlelight Concert meditating on the Autumn renditions.
