The Colorfully Pleasing Pop of Red
Every autumn, bright and vivid shades of the color wheel abound with the fall foliage. But have you noticed fashion’s colorfully pleasing pop of red trending this fall?

The Magnificent Eight ladies knew this firey hue was trending and chose red as the last edition of our style statement. Wednesday, October 25, marks the final installment of the Magnificent 8 Showcasing our Style series for 2023.

As you may know, our group focuses on eight generations of bloggers styling one agreed-upon theme each quarter. Earlier this year, we had our say with Pantone color of the year, Viva Magenta, and my not-so-pink Barbie Blazer.

Banana Republic Linen Pants

For my style statement, my outfit I shopped my closet for these wide-leg linen pants from Banana Republic, last worn here,  And added the pop of red cable knit sweater made of wool and cashmere purchased from Nordstrom.

Let’s talk about the lost craft of knitting. Knitting is a traditional craft dating back to Ancient Egypt. Nevertheless, the history of cable knitting sweaters is just 100 years old, starting in the fishing communities of the Aran islands on the west coast of Ireland.

Artisans in the local communities started knitting sweaters that kept fishermen warm and dry while at sea. The specific cable-like stitch pattern became synonymous with fisherman. Another name for the cable knit sweater is the fisherman’s sweater.

Thanks to a cable knit article published by Vogue in 1958, the sweater gained tremendous popularity with women and men. The rest, they say, is history. Over the last 100 years, the sweater’s reinvention has remained the same classic.
