Hello, Beauties🌸 Today’s post, a quick question, Do You Have Any Snakeskin Worming Its Way Into Your Closet?
I stumbled upon New York City’s Garment District’s Fashion Walk of Fame in December 2016. I felt compelled to examine those Manhattan-based designers given the honors. You may recall some of the designers I featured – Charles James, Claire McCardell, and Pauline Trigére.
Don’t you love discovering emerging New York contemporary brands? I know I did just that when I learned about Brandon Blackwood New York. I found the Brooklyn-based designer on Instagram earlier this year.
Let’s take a closer look at Brandon Blackwood’s rise and early success. Perhaps it was Essence Magazine’s August 2015
25 Pieces To Take You From Summer to Fall. Or Essence Magazine’s April 2015 Fly Head To Tote articles that included newly curated Blackwood bags. Both features appeared immediately after launching his eponymous brand in early 2015.
The 2015 original four-piece collection garnered immediate attention with other publications like Elle, Vogue, and WWD. Maybe the celebrity endorsements from Issa Rae, Kerry Washington or Cardi B help get BB exposure? I believe it is absolute satisfaction in what his product offers.
I’ll tell you why. First, it’s Blackwood’s attention to detail in the beautifully well-made leather handbags, trunks, unisex backpacks, and small accessories. Then, according to his website, the Brandon Blackwood philosophy, a mixture of classic and current sensibility. The approach to aesthetic leads to timeless silhouettes, high quality detailing, and unique materials.
Then on September 12, 2017, the Jamaican-Chinese handbag designer celebrated his official premiere at New York Fashion Week at the Milk New York Studios.
Bottom line, Brandon Blackwood New York is style and substance all wrapped up in leather accessories and now clothing. In Brandon’s own words, “The best materials, hardware, and craftsmanship go into every single bag, every piece is practical, durable, and makes sense.”
I digressed when I went on about New York designer Blackwood. The BB story helps me provide background support and answer my question about my new snakeskin purchase. As you can see, my python love affair continues with my Brandon Blackwood custom Kendrick bag.
How about you? Have you added any snakeskin pieces to your closet? Do share in the comments section.
