Coco Chanel (August 19, 1883 – January 10, 1971) is the best example of her style. She wore trousers on holiday, mixed costume jewelry with authentic pieces, and created the luxury leather 2.55 bag in 1929.  Why? She grew weary of carrying her handbags in her arms.

In 1926, Chanel made black, the color of mourning, the go-to color of elegance with her little black dress. American Vogue described it as ” The Chanel Frock—that frock that all the world will wear.”

According to Karl Lagerfeld, “One is never over-or-underdressed with a little black dress.” After 35 years at the helm of the French fashion house, Karl Lagerfeld continues Chanel’s timeless classic style and spirit while modernizing the brand.

The Spring-Summer 2018 eyewear campaign features British fashion model and activist Adwoa Aboah, photographed by Karl Lagerfeld. A white turban and staple Chanel white pearls accentuate the black-and-white photo portraits.
