Hello, Beauties! The dog days of July are upon us as evidenced by last week’s scorching temperatures. Nevertheless, I say, don’t let the summer heat stop your chic.
When I started blogging five years ago, one of my goals was to share my love of color. This year, based on recent significant purchases, it seems my ultimate go-to color is black. This year, I scored a pantsuit, jumpsuit, and this summer dress I’m wearing.
Here’s the scoop on my black purchases. I haven’t owned and worn a pantsuit in years. A year ago, that was the power outfit. The little local boutique that I frequent for my investment pieces owner suggested a pantsuit from the clearance rack. I said, “Who wants a black knit pantsuit?” First of all, when I slipped that baby on, the cut and the fit did it. Sold!
Next, my très chic black jumpsuit from the same store. The owner ordered a sleeveless jumpsuit for my annual dinner dance. As you may know, I do prefer a gown. But the jumpsuit, talk about fabulous! I decided to hold onto the gown alternative for future use. Again, you never know; sometimes, you look at something on the hanger until you try it on. A few shortening alterations and voila!
The online black dress purchase I’m wearing represents everything I love about warm-weather dressing. It’s long, a natural fiber cotton, a non-fitted dress, bell-sleeves, with cut-work designs, all perfect for air circulation.
According to French Fashion Designer Christian Dior, black is the most popular, convenient, and elegant of all colors. Mr. Dior says it’s the most slimming of colors and the most flattering.” We can all attest to those statements, which is why we love black, even during the dog days of summer.
I consider black a must-have staple color in my wardrobe that I wear all year long. Depending on the occasion, you can dress it up or down in black. Keep the following tips in mind for hot temperatures:
◊ Select natural, breathable fibers like cotton and linen
🖤 Select black pieces with built-in vents, cut-outs, eyelets, and chambray
◊ Naturally sleeveless, off-the-shoulder top/dress, A-Line, and fit and flare dresses and skirts
