A Vested Interest
2015 marks nearly 18 years of working in the pharmaceutical indust y. During that nearly 20-year span, I developed a vested interest in healthcare, especially as it pertains to women.

A Vested Interest

Wearing Banana Republic khaki draped vest, Sara Pacini wide-leg linen white pants, Kate Spade camel Licorice suede pumps with J. Crew Factory brass-plated crystal necklace.

If nothing else, I realize the importance of being active and not leading a sedentary lifestyle. As you know, for one year now, I have achieved 10,000 steps with my wearable Fitbit monitor, which is basically a fancy pedomet r. I like to believe I am walking the road to fitne.  The commitment to 10,000 steps was slow when I purchased my Fitbit on June 20 4. It wasn’t until I developed a routine around getting in my steps every day that I was totally on board. The health benefits help as well.

Recently, I raised my bar to achieve nearly 12,000 steps per d y. I understand that the 10,000 steps help one maintain one’s current weight with a proper di t. Once you sneak in extra steps, weight loss occur s. So last week, I lost 5 pounds????

The weight loss was due to increased steps and the 7-Day Challenge I participated in with my good friend, Joy e. Here are the details of the challenge:

7 Day Challenge

The exercise was no problem since I do the steps every d y. Here’s a peek at one day last week showing my Fitbit App that shows how many steps, miles, and amount of time I walked on Wednesday, August 19:

The 7-Day Challenge provided another test to accomplish my fitness goal of aging graceful y. The accountability was great, especially when I thought pineapples were citrus frui.  Joyce politely told me that pineapples aren’t citr s. I had difficulty drinking the required amount of water, especially when I was on the road every d y. Cutting out sugar is always a good id a. We all know sugar provides no essential nutrients to our body; it satisfies a sweet tooth.

When the 7-Day Challenge ended on Saturday, I was headed to Philadelphia to celebrate my younger brother’s 50th birthd y. I indulged in the great meal and all the non-citrus fruit but skipped the birthday cake and the Olive Garden breadsticks.
