I remember my first day as a pharmaceutical sales rep with AstraZeneca over 17 years ago. In 1998, I temporarily relocated to Da’Burgh, Pittsburgh. My accommodations included a one-bedroom apartment in North Hills near the regional office of AstraZeneca. Why? The training included not days, not just weeks, but three months of face-to-face classroom study with trainers.
My, how things have changed. Technology has exploded in a significant way that affects our daily lives in how we communicate, shop, and learn. When I was interviewed for this sales position, I was often asked about my ability to use different computer programs. I asked myself how hard this computer can be. Speaking of technology, my first cell phone was the Motorola bag phone with an external antenna. Does anyone else remember that cell phone?
Product training comprises five days of virtual learning and self-paced computer-based learning modules. I spent the first week of February preparing to learn another product. Fortunately, I was home when the frigid temperatures settled in across the country. However, I did escape the arctic blast when I arrived in Chicago the following week for our annual sales meeting. Except for arrival and departure, I stayed inside the hotel.
Looking back at my career at Astra Zeneca, my portfolio of products included the purple pill and many cardiovascular treatment options for hypertension and heart disease. All the clinical information I acquired with AstraZeneca continues to help me be a health advocate for seasoned women via The Age of Grace.
Last weekend, I went to New York; last week, I went to product training in Chicago and back to the Burg in Central Pennsylvania. No more training days until further notice. For now, I plan to use the additional knowledge to engage medical professionals about the AstraZeneca statin that can help their patients reduce their cholesterol levels. Have a great week!
Yes Eugenia how things have changed! Looking lovely as usual!
April,
Hi! Thank you!
