Springing Forward with Kate Spade

Spring doesn’t start for another ten days, but this weekend’s warm weather made it seem even closer. I am ‘spring forward’ with the nice weather as I train for next month’s Nike Half Marathon. I welcome the longer days of sunlight even if my precious sleep hours must be sacrificed. It was the perfect opportunity to walk longer in nice weather.

Today’s post shows me wearing my Kate Spade quilted green jacket, which I purchased on sale last year; this is my first opportunity to pull it out of the cedar closet.  Although I am not generally a fan of darker colors, as you can see from previous posts, I have always been fascinated with how specific colors are very prominent every season, regardless of where you look. I view colors worn and those you surround yourself with as an expression of who you are.  Interestingly enough, colors are chosen every year by Pantone, The Color Institute.

Did you know that before choosing the season’s color, the company hosts a secret meeting in Europe twice a year, and after two days of presentations and debate, they choose a color for the following year?  Who knew??

Below are the colors that they chose for Spring/Summer 2013:

Usually, I like to celebrate Spring’s arrival by attending the annual Philadelphia Flower Show—the world’s oldest and largest indoor flower show. Here, I can get my dose of color and enjoy the aromas of all the forced-bloomed flowers and the other 300,000 people who usually attend during the week-long event. I couldn’t participate this year due to a family death, so I’ve been getting my dose of Spring with my clothing choices.
