Today, Friday, February 11, I’m participating in a virtual Galentine celebration for Uncommon Threads Boutique. Why? “It’s a day for celebrating, ladies.”
Valentine’s Day is not just for couples but also for gal pals who want to celebrate one another; hence, it is Galentine’s Day.
The unofficial Galentine Day started in a 2014 episode by the former Park & Recreation character Lesley Knope (Amy Poehler). Since 2014, the dubious Day picked up momentum with annual recognition and celebrations.
First, more about Uncommon Threads. Uncommon Threads’ is a non-profit organization empowering economically challenged women through fashion and holistic nurturing. Susan Kanoff, the founder, started this innovative idea in 2016, recognizing the strength and beauty of every woman regardless of her income status.
Uncommon Threads touches the lives of more than 1,200 financially challenged women each year through the following empowerment programs and services:
♠ Self-Esteem Styling
♥ Workforce Styling
♦ Women’s Empowerment Center
♣ Bundle Up & Emergency Clothing
The Uncommon Threads brand gains tremendous momentum with the Uncommon Influence Instagram group. How? Expanding the program’s reach for donations and purchasing preloved items online or in-person.
