The Philly Flower Show Returns to FDR Park in Philly on Saturday, June 11-19. It’s the second year as an outdoor venue. The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society hosts the event.
No more teasing of warmer temperatures and additional sunlight; spring is here. On March 20, 2022, the vernal equinox arrived at 11:33 a.m. I’m ready to spring forward with my annual events, especially the Philadelphia Flower Show.
Because of the significant COVID-19 health pandemic concerns, the PHS held the 2021 annual Philly Flower Show outside instead of indoors at the 11-acre Philadelphia Convention Center.
After last year’s June sweltering temperatures and slow-moving long lines to gain entry into the flower show, I decided to become a member of the horticultural society. As a member of the PHS, I receive two complimentary tickets. This perk gets me special hours to access the show before it opens to the public. And visit any day during the show week.
It’s no surprise in my private time from attending flower shows; I get inspiration for decorating the inside of my home with houseplants and the outside with evergreens, annuals, perennials, and my window boxes.
I believe I inherited my Mom’s green thumbs in nurturing my houseplants. I enjoy taking care of plants not just for their cosmetic benefits but also for their therapeutic impact.
How houseplants benefit you and your living space:
🪴 Purify the air
💃🏾 Increase productivity
😰 Reduce stress
🤒 Aid in recovery from surgery
❤️🩹 Improve sense of well-being
I also select easy plants with low-level light requirements — Money tree, Monstera, Snake, Chinese evergreen, Ivy, Ficus, and Golden Pothos.
With my determination to return to normalcy and elevate my home’s curbside appeal during the first year of COVID-19, because of supply shortages, I ordered my Boston ferns for my outdoor urns from Costa Farms online.
I strayed from talking about the 194th edition of the 2022 Philly Flower Show, but it’s hard not to speak about how my show visits impact my everyday inside and outside living spaces.
As always, thank you for reading. Stay safe.
