It’s September 16, my annual sweet reservation at the Hershey Spa to celebrate my birthday with my daughter, Channing.
For as long as I can remember, when September 16 rolls around, I spend a day luxuriating at the Spa at the Hotel Hershey. The Spa opened in 2001 and quickly expanded to accommodate the long wait times for reservations.
This year marks 68 years of life, love, and mostly happiness. I’m missing my Mom today. Nevertheless, my annual birthday celebration and yearly traditions help me stay grounded in who I am to maintain my sanity.
This year, I opted for pamper services during the week. Why? The weekend gets overwhelming with large bridal parties or girls’ groups.
So, I never get facials at the Hershey Spa. My monthly facial services include chemical peels, Rezenerate Nano Facial, or Hydro Facial, depending on my skin needs. No to nails and pedicures since I have routine appointments as well. I prefer the Cocoa bath and the 90-minute Rose Garden Massage, my go-to treatments.
The Cocoa bath is all the chocolate I need when I visit Hershey. I’m proud of myself for not eating one piece of chocolate except for dessert with lunch. The Rose Garden massage is 90 minutes of bliss, smelling the aromas of roses while the masseuse kneads out every kink in my body.
As a member, you receive emails with last-minute available appointments at reduced pricing. I do try to take advantage of it whenever possible. Whether it’s one or many treatments, you are encouraged to stay the entire day to experience each relaxation room: the aromatherapy, silent, or whisper room. And weather-permitting, sit outside and enjoy the beautiful scenic views.
Remember the old American Express campaign slogan, “Membership has its privileges?” That saying applies here.
As a Chocolate Spa member, I take advantage of the perks, which cost nearly $700.

It is my annual day to relax, rejuvenate, and refresh at the “sweetest place on earth.” Then, take blog photos in the picturesque setting and hope the wind doesn’t ruin the moment.
What tranquil spaces do you seek out to pamper and relax? I would love to hear about your pampering experiences.
Finally, Happy New Year to my Jewish friends.
