Sip and Script calligraphy is the art of pretty letter writing.
Kenita, a friend I met at a 2018 NYC blogger meetup, recommended a SIp and Script calligraphy class. I usually share events with her since she visits the Lancaster County area. This time she informed me about Sip and Script.
I was unfamiliar with Sip and Script, so the Instagram link gave the classes’ details by state. Does anyone remember taking penmanship or cursive writing classes as a child in elementary school? I knew calligraphy was a fancy form of scripting, as in the pretty letter writing on wedding invitation envelopes.
There is a difference between cursive writing and calligraphy.
1. Cursive uses a flowing style to make writing faster.
2. Cursive is generally straightforward.
3. Cursive letters always connect.
4. Calligraphy is a discipline, while cursive is a skill.
Two-Boston-based wedding calligraphers turned their passion into Sip and Script in 2015. It’s worth noting that calligraphy roots came from ancient China.
The $70 class provided the following:
1.5 hours of hands-on training
Caligraphy supplies include practice materials, nibs, and ink.
Looking for a girl’s outing, planning a wedding, or wanting to personalize your thank you’s or any written correspondence? Sip and Script is a beautiful way to express yourself.
Calligraphy means beautiful writing and comes from the Greek word beauty. The Sip and Script beginner’s class provided plenty of scripting in our six-person classโthe class location at Cubby’s Ice Cream Shoppe in Hummesltown, PA.
In an age of e-mails, texts, and tweets, it’s refreshing to slow down and enjoy the lost art of writing. The next time I need to send a thank you, I plan to get out my personalized stationery and try calligraphy.
Check their website to learn about beginner’s or advanced calligraphy classes in your area. Each location tells you the number of people that can attend as you register.
