It’s the end of July, and you know what that means; it’s the most uncomfortable time of the summer weather-wise. The three Hs – hazy, hot, and humid get me every time. To combat these sultry summer days, who wears short shorts? Surprisingly, me?
I’m not a short shorts girl; however, the intense summer heat challenges me to seek out relaxed and comfortable clothing. Short shorts and what else is perfect to wear as the heat wave blasts across the United States? Linen!
Certain fabrics scream summer chic; linen is one of them, along with other summer-friendly cotton textures and weaves, which include chambray, gingham, seersucker, poplin, and Broderie Anglaise/cutwork like eyelet.
Linen looks breezy and feels relaxed. Why? It’s lightweight, breathable, sustainable, and made from natural fibers. The only drawback of linen is that it’s a lightweight fabric, so it wrinkles easily.
It’s no coincidence that I included white linen in my outfit post. As part of the Magnificent 8 Instagram group, we agreed upon linen as the theme for our third post of the year.
As you may recall, we get together quarterly every year to showcase our styles across eight generations of fashion and beauty. I usually refer to this group as a bevy of beauty.
Now don’t forget to check out the generation of beauties in the Magnificent 8 July Linen style statements:
Grace of Graceful Rags represents teenagers.
Mica of Away From Blue represents the 20-somethings.
Roxanne of Glass of Glam describes the 30-somethings.
Shelbee of Shelbee on the Edge represents the 40-somethings.
Rena of Fine Whatever represents the 50-somethings.
Moi is representing the 60-somethings.
Lesley of JTouch of Style represents the 70-somethings.
Charlotte of JTouch of Style represents the 80-somethings.
