Today, March 8, is IWD, but Uncommon Threads Boutique champions women every day.
What is IWD? International Women’s Day, the global time devoted annually on March 8 to commemorate women’s cultural, political, and socio-economic achievements.
In 1908, 15,000 women marched on the streets of New York City for better pay, shorter hours, and voting rights. The first “National Woman’s Day” celebration in NYC was Sunday, February 29, 1909.
After decades of struggle, the Nineteenth Amendment, which guarantees all American women the right to vote passed by Congress on August 18, 1920.
Fast forward to 2022, the crucial milestone 102-year achievement for women of the United States; however, we are still not there concerning equal pay and racial equality.
Let’s talk about the socio-economic achievements of women with specific regard to how Uncommon Threads Boutique champions women every day.
