Central Pennsylvania continues to see spikes in Coronavirus cases every day. Because of this surge, local medical authorities strongly urge people to follow the CDC guidelines and limit gatherings to less than ten people. Nevertheless, the recent coronavirus restrictions didn’t stop my luxury day at the Spa at The Hotel Hershey.
The most important reason for keeping that spa date with my daughter. I missed our spa services for my birthday back in September. And the pharmaceutical company I work for downsized the salesforce by 500 people on December 1.
The layoffs merged two different therapeutic areas, Diabetes and Inhaled Respiratory. This means, for me, getting certified to sell the Diabetes drug. Less than two weeks to study product modules, take an assessment with a passing grade of 90%, and provide video selling products.
I’m employed, so I have no complaints about the workload.
Now, the spa visit. I remember when the Spa at The Hotel Hershey opened in January 2001. The Chocolate Spa is a welcome addition to Small Town U.S.A. Residents no longer need to travel to Philly or New York for a luxury spa experience.
I gifted myself the gift of relaxation; a few years back, I joined the Chocolate Spa Club. The annual membership entitles me to free services, discounts for my guests who attend the spa with me, and a free night at the Hotel Hershey.
For me, the ultimate self-care is to unwind, relax, and refresh your body and mind, and a 50-minute traditional massage helps, too.
Health and safety enhancements in place to protect guests against COVID-19:
COVID-19 Health Questionnaire
Temperature check upon arrival
Timed entry based on service appointment
Mandatory mask-wearing for everyone
Only two in the Aromatherapy Room at one time
No food, drinks, or water sitting around
Personnel around to bring you water, coffee, tea, or individual trail mix.
No in-house dining in the spa restaurant, The Oasis
Technicians wore two masks when performing services.
Plenty of hand sanitizer stations
After a leisurely day of services and lounging, my daughter and I took advantage of my free night at The Hotel Hershey. I overheard someone say that only 30 guests stay at the 276-room hotel. I knew that when I arrived earlier, the parking lot was empty.
It’s been ages since I’ve stayed overnight at this historic hotel. I hesitated to stay because of the COVID-19 surges. However, because of the many safety enhancements, I felt safe and not at risk of Coronavirus.
The accommodations are comfortable and spacious for a corner room with a great view of the grounds.
In my bed, I enjoyed a fabulous night’s sleep.
I’m grateful I took the time to enjoy my gift of relaxation and a day of luxury at the spa and The Hotel Hershey. If you want a special gift for yourself or a loved one, consider purchasing a spa gift certificate. A spa visit is great for a girl’s day, mommy-daughter time, and, of course, with your best friend.
As always, I appreciate you stopping by The Age of Grace. Stay safe and follow the 3Ws: Wear a mask, watch your distance, and wash your hands as often as possible.
