Are you down with the faux leather fever? If so, you need to add it to your closet now.
What comes to mind when you think of wearing leather? For me, a pair of boots or a must-have black biker jacket.
There are many more options, such as dresses like this Target Who What Wear faux leather dress I’m wearing in today’s post and previously worn here. How about the Free People high-waisted caramel vegan pants from last week’s post? And the ASOS swing dress, which cost only $40.00
This fall, I’ve had my dose of faux leather, with another addition from my daughter, Channing, for my 65th birthday. I’m wearing the Telfar small shopping tote in tan.
I must take a detour to discuss the coveted faux leather satchel from Telfar Clemens, this sought-after “it bag.”
Dubbed the Bushwick Birkin. Why?
NYC Makeup artist Xya Rachel coined the term Bushwick Birkin earlier this year, and I quote, “but for those who don’t have Hermès kinda coins.”
This shopping bag was introduced by New York Fashion Designer Telfar Clemens in 2014. Slowly but surely, it became a status symbol for all the cool kids who agreed with the label’s message: “It’s not for you; it’s for everyone.”
Because the bags are so hard to come by (hence the name Birkin), a flash sale Bag Security Program was introduced earlier this year to help secure your selection. The viral sensations were made right in Buckwish, a neighborhood in Brooklyn.
The bags retail for just $150 to $257.
Congratulations to Telfar Clemens, the 2017 Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) winner, on his inclusion on Oprah’s annual Favorite Things List.
If you are looking to add a few inexpensive pieces to your closet, consider faux leather. It is a great, affordable, chic option for yourself or as a gift.
