The Coronavirus continues to spread globally, and there are no signs of slowing down in Central Pennsylvania. Now’s the time to have an optimally functioning immune system. Here are simple ways to boost your immune system naturally.
Before exploring natural ways to boost your defenses, one question to ask is: What is the function of the immune system?
The immune system protects the body from bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other harmful organisms. Toxins in foods and the environment, poor diet, lack of sleep, and stress can all contribute to a decline in the immune system. A weakened immune system, your body, is subject to fatigue and illness and cannot ward off infections.
Here is where the temptation is great to purchase supplements and vitamins that promise to enhance the immune system. I must admit to using sea moss in my green tea and taking a collagen supplement with a boost of Vitamin C.
Medical professionals suggest sticking with the more mundane but proven approaches to keep your body’s defenses fortified:
♠ Keep stress levels down.
🤸🏾♀️ Make exercise a priority.
💦 Drink lots of water.
🌞 Don’t be afraid of the sun.
💤 Get adequate sleep. For adults, that means sleeping seven to eight hours a night.
◊ Take probiotics daily.
🥤 Avoid mindless eating.
🥬 Add superfoods to your diet. Eat leafy greens like kale, spinach, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, beets, and blueberries, to name a few.
🍫 Avoid sweets.
🚬 Stop smoking or vaping.
💉 Get a flu shot.
🧼 Maintain good hygiene. Wash hands as often as possible; otherwise, use 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
🙌🏾 Be grateful.
These proven approaches will help you now with Coronavirus as well when the cold and cold season is over in May. As April winds down, I hope to see the other side of Coronavirus and what the new standard means. I pray you and your family stay safe and healthy and wear masks and gloves when shopping for essentials.
As always, thank you for reading. Have a fabulous week.
