Hello, beauties๐ธ. No celebration shenanigans for me this middle of the week 4th of July Holiday. I’m closet purging to donate to Uncommon Threads.
Did you know when my children were young, I was a domestic goddess? Back then, I had the time to manage our closets and clutter. Since becoming a blogger five years ago and working full-time for the last 21 years; I won’t even talk about the number of shoes, accessories, and clothes I accumulated in three closets including a walk-in.
That was a little side note on why I’m behind on keeping with the closets. Back to Uncommon Threads. Who or what are Uncommon Threads? According to their website, Uncommon Threads’ mission is to use clothes and image as the tools for boosting women’s self-esteem, self-confidence and self-worth. Clients, referred by social service and health professionals who work with domestic violence survivors, disabled women, women in recovery. Also female veterans and low-income women.
Clients receive a private styling session with one of the “volunteer stylists,” where they will learn their best styles and colors and get advice on how to dress to project a positive image. The ladies get up to four complete outfits suitable for their lifestyle. The goal is for them to leave the boutique feeling empowered, nurtured, beautiful, and confident.
Founder, Susan’s dedication to helping low-income families move out of poverty over 20 years contributed to her passion for starting Uncommon Threads. Susan is not only the Executive Director at Uncommon Threads but a wardrobe stylist style blogger at The Midlife Fashionista.
I learned about Uncommon Threads when I met Susan Kanoff at the Forever Fierce NYC Meetup for Chico’s How Bold Are You? Dinner. I sat next to Susan as we shared lite bites at The Wren. She shared her passion for helping women. It was back then in March that I decided I would donate my excess to benefit women. Susan said the boutique mainly needed shoes, accessories, and jewelry.
Oh, I forgot to tell you. The Uncommon Threads location is in Lawrence, Massachusetts. So I have to mail the goodies. I’m still fully committed plus this is a charitable donation.
As a blogger how do you manage your closets? Shoes? Accessories? Do tell in the comments section.
Thank you for reading. Have a fabulous week!
