Arlinda McImtosh’s Sofistafunk Skirts
Join me on March 24 to play dress up with the founder and creator of the fashion Sofistafunk label, Arlinda McIntosh, who will welcome us all with crumpets and tea as we try on her signature “Gathering” skirt in Verona, New Jersey. So, who’s up for becoming a Sofistafunk girl with me?

Sofistafunk creator, Arlinda McIntosh

Arlinda’s story of unintentional entrepreneurship began in 1999, continuing the legacy of her North Carolina roots. “Our signature skirt, so lovingly called ‘The Gathering,’ is inspired by childhood memories of my mom, her family, and friends as they gathered to work in the cotton fields of North Carolina,” she tells me. They talked about the empowerment of others in an each-one-teach-3 frame of mind. Primarily drawn to their full skirts, which seemed to blow musically on the wind, many passed down and multifunctional.”

This brings us back to Arlinda’s ‘Gathering’ skirt, which offers the option to wear the hem long or with a high-low silhouette that embodies her label, Sofistafunk’s tagline: one skirt, endless possibilities.

Join us on March 24 at Sofistafunk to primp with fancy silk ball skirts; afterward, we will head to a local park to play jump rope, ride the seesaw, skip hopscotch, and hula hoop. Hopefully, it will be a day to take a step back in time to relive childhood girly girl memories. Remember, as a child, playtime seemed endless until those street lights came on, and then you headed home. Let’s use this day to move at a slower pace purposefully, take time to smell the blooming flowers in Verona, New Jersey, and try on skirts.
