I was hoping to start wearing my new spring clothes. But no! There was snow last week, frigid temperatures over the weekend, and a threat of a Nor’Easter this week. What’s a girl to do? Well, dress appropriately.
My version of a sensible winter outfit includes trying to adapt to monochromatic dressing with boots while the winds are blowing and the temperature is below freezing, hovering around 25° —the winter that won’t quit.
Camel is my one-tone choice. I’m wearing my ASOS oversized swing coat with kimono sleeve, a J.Crew camel wool dress, and last season’s Cole Haan Pewter Suede Boots.
Below are the 2017 spring trends I’m excited to buy to wear once the weather breaks (save for the frayed jeans and bomber jacket):
Monochromatic Dressing:
I’m dressed in a monochromatic look, which is a great styling trick that is timeless and elegant. It’s also a fabulous way to appear leaner and taller while hiding flaws and problem areas. However, a one-tone color outfit refers to head-to-toe black or white and other flattering colors to consider.
Bomber Jackets:
Frayed, Embroidered, or Split-Seam Denim
Anything with Pom Poms
Floral Maxi Dresses:
But Also Shirt Dresses and Ones with Cold Shoulders and Shirtwaist, Too:
Sheer/Illusion Tops, Too:
… And Exaggerated Sleeves:
Crop and Wide-Leg Pants:
Block Heels:
Pointy-Toe Booties:
Slip-on Sneakers:
Chokers:
Bold Statement Earrings:
Anything Tulle:
Or Gingham:
Stripes rebranded. Now it’s the Banker Stripe, not the French girl’s Breton stripe.
The Color Yellow
You can update your look with any of the affordable items above. They’ll be sure to fit nicely into any wardrobe. Where you live, is the climate suitable for spring fashions yet? If yes, what are you buying?
Have a fabulous, stylish, and fierce week,
I have that exact floral maxi chiffon dress and I love it. The dress drapes wonderfully and is very lady like. Spring will be here soon.;-)
Shirley,
Hello! Thanks for stopping by The Age of Grace. Thanks for the feedback on the floral maxi dress.
