Ever at a loss to find the perfect shade of lipstick? Are you tired of the same old selections to add a pop of color to your lips? Looking for more natural options? As fifty-plus boomers wanting to keep up our beauty game. BFF Cynthia and I recently traveled to Manhattan to meet with our fave millennials for custom-made lip colors at the Bite Beauty Lip Lab in Soho.
In 2009, Susanne Langmuir, after 16 years of designing and formulating beauty products, began to develop sensitivity to non-natural ingredients and fragrance chemicals. When her search for a natural, high-performing lipstick left her disappointed, she headed into her own lab to formulate something better. In 2011, Bite Beauty Lip Lab debuted in Toronto, Canada. In October 2013, the Bite Beauty summer pop-up shop was converted into a permanent store at 174 Prince Street in Soho.
One thing about my female millennials is that they always know the latest and greatest, especially in beauty products. My millennial Channing scheduled our beauty appointment when Cynthia and I decided we wanted to motor to the Big Apple for another day of exploration. Each of our creations was handcrafted one at a time based on individual specifications, which included the following choices:
Finish:
Creme: Buttery and smooth ($45.00/2 for $60)
Matte: Matte yet moist ($45/2 for $60)
Sheer: Glossy, sheer, and hydrating ($45/2 for $60)
Deluxe: Luxurious silk, pearl and champagne ($45/2 for $60)
Flavor:
Cherry
Mint
Vanilla
Citrus
Mango
Violet
The prices are $45.00 per custom tube, but we each paid only $38.00 plus NYC tax. I believe my daughter made the appointment before the price increase.
If you plan to visit Manhattan soon, consider Bite Beauty’s Lip Lab for a custom lip color. The store can accommodate appointments for bridal parties or like our small group of bloggers. Bite Beauty offers an affordable, natural, custom-made option. And you’ll have fun learning and watching the science behind a tube of lipstick in less than 20 minutes for one person.
Have a fabulous week.
