#SeeSummertimeBetter With Warby Parker Sunnies
All tell-tale signs that the season is changing are here: the farmer’s markets are selling mums, the crisp temperatures in the morning and late evenings, and ragweed season has started. Not to mention, the sun now sets around 7:45 p.m.
And even though I see fall creeping in, with acorns already falling from the oak trees (during my 13,000-step-a-day walks through my neighborhood), there is still plenty of time to #SeeSummerBetter.
Thanks to Warby Parker.
I teamed up with the eyewear company to #SeeSummerBetter. I selected three pairs of sunglasses and two pairs of eyeglass frames for their free at-home 5-day trial program.
Founded in 2010, Warby Parker’s line of products is available online and in a limited number of showrooms in the United States. Many of the company’s frames are vintage-inspired.
Fun fact: The Warby Parker name comes from the names of two characters in Jack Kerouac’s unpublished journals: Warby Pepper and Zagg Parker. The owners combined the two names.
In May 2009, one of the founders, Dave, wandered through the New York Public Library when he stumbled into an exhibition about American novelist and poet Jack Kerouac. The exhibit included some of Kerouac’s manuscripts, drafts, and journals.
Isn’t that interesting? I wondered how they came up with the company’s name.
Full disclosure here: I was contacted by Warby Parker to participate in their #SeeSummerBetter campaign. After trying out the frames for five days, I still can’t believe how chic and affordable the frames are. All sunglasses retail for $95.00–not bad for great style–and they all fit my face perfectly. The eyeglasses are moderately priced as well. Who doesn’t like trying on something for free in the comforts of one’s home? Try them at http://www.warbyparker.com/sunglasses; you’ll like them!
Check me out as I tried out each pair:
For each pair of glasses the company sells, Warby Parker donates a pair, through a nonprofit partner, to someone who lacks access to vision care. It’s worth noting that the home try-on glasses are fitted with sample lenses. The real thing is even better! Any Warby Parker glasses you purchase will include high-quality, anti-reflective, anti-scratch, and UV-protective polycarbonate lenses.
I’m sure you can tell some of the photos above are in New York City. My hubby and I visited our daughter to celebrate his milestone birthday.
On Saturday, used TKTS TKTS, a stand offering a 50% discount on Broadway musicals or plays. We landed on the off-Broadway musical, Newsical. I was thankful the Costume Institute extended the Metropolitan Museum of Art Exhibit on China: Through the Looking Glass to September 7 so we could take advantage. I haven’t missed the last two years’ exhibits, the 2014 Charles James and the 2013 Punk: Chaos to Couture.
I discovered a new section of Manhattan called Hell’s Kitchen. Based on the name, it was not a place I would plan to frequent, but the interesting history and my favorite new places to dine for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch suggest otherwise.
My daughter and I have a tradition of starting all of our visits together with manicures and pedicures. This time, my husband joined us, opting for the spa pedicure—a first for him.
Summer doesn’t officially end until Wednesday, September 23, at 4:21 a.m., to be exact, so there is still time to savor the last days of the season! How? #SeeSummerBetter with Warby Parker sunnies or eyeglasses, of course.
Thank you, Warby Parker, for the opportunity to participate in the #SeeSummerBetter campaign. It was fun being creative and finding my new pair of chic shades, the Banks Ginger Crystal tinted sunglasses.
Have a fabulous week!
