Earlier this year, in January, I told you that you should give your skin the Brush-off. I highlighted Dry Skin Brushing, an Ayurvedic remedy that is an ancient natural healing technique that benefits the skin on the outside and the inside. I adopted this quick and easy ritual to my morning beauty regimen, and my skin is oh-so-soft.
Knowing that the skin is the largest organ on the body, it must be protected all year round using an SPF, especially in the warmer months when we wear less clothing and are exposed more to the sun’s harmful UV rays.
The Dry Skin Brushing was an easy addition to my morning routine because all I needed to purchase was the dry brush. No excellent price tag was associated with it, and it did not take much time. I am not the only one that knows the benefits of dry body brushing, in the May issue of People StyleWatch, model Miranda Kerr revitalizes her skin with body brushing. Miranda told the Glossy, “Using a special body brush on dry skin is an integral part of my morning regimen.” She continued, “It gets the circulation going, keeps skin smooth, and takes two minutes. I start with my feet and work my way up in quick, gentle strokes.”
Thank you, Miranda, for explaining the exact same procedure I have followed since January of this year. It was quick and easy, and what a difference it made in my skin texture and smoothness—it was soft as a baby’s behind.
Now that my skin has returned to baby-soft, I keep the ash at bay with shea butter. Since I probably have borderline eczema or psoriasis, the shea butter seems to reduce my symptoms. Shea butter softens my skin, provides natural sunscreen protection from the sun, and helps my skin retain moisture, thus lessening the effects of “ash” with its moisture retention qualities.
I love that I purchased my shea butter from Stacey’s Shea on Etsy.com. Stacey’s Shea is homemade with all-natural ingredients. It’s lovely to support a female entrepreneur I babysat when I lived in Philadelphia in high school.
What’s your secret for skin so soft?
