Did you know 1 in 3 women will have cancer in their lifetime and 1 in 8 will have breast cancer?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness, the annual national calendar focus to bring about awareness for women to get a mammogram and reminder to perform monthly self-checks.  Breast Cancer Awareness is an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment.  Supporters hope that greater knowledge will lead to earlier detection of breast cancer, which is associated with higher long-term survival rates, and that money raised for breast cancer will produce a reliable permanent cure.

After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States.  Breast cancer can occur in both men and women, but it’s far more common in women.
As with many other illnesses, early detection is key, some of the signs and symptoms may include the following:
