Are we there yet? Yes, we are. As of June 21 at 5:04 AM, the summer solstice arrived in full swing, but not without a few false starts. According to the Climate Prediction Center, forecasts for this summer include unprecedented highs. All the indicators are there: poor air quality index, high pollen count, and high-temperature bands with orange and yellow color ranges across the map of the United States.
I have never been a fan of hot or humid weather. As a child growing up in Philadelphia, I remember that summer seemed to last forever. My memories include summer camp, trips to Atlantic City, theme parks, picnics, block parties, and my Dad’s summer school. I have no recall of summers being hot or humid. Perhaps it is the mature phase of my life that prohibits me from enjoying the heat, and the hot flashes don’t help either.
My stay-cool thoughts include dressing professionally and being presentable when visiting medical offices. Dresses seem to be the easy answer for looking professional, and wearing a sweater for those overly air-conditioned offices, hair off the face and shoulders, is another must. I prefer the new relaxed mode of dressing, not to wear pantyhose. Since I am not the Duchess of Cambridge, I don’t need to adhere to such a strict dress code. No one is going to notice or care that I am not wearing hose.
My summer sun beauty 411 includes faithfully protecting my skin with SPF daily and protecting my eyes with sunglasses.
Any fond memories of childhood summers? What changes have you made to your summer beauty routine, if any? Do you enjoy heat and humidity?
