As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found a few things to know as my ‘saving grace.’ We all have items or things that we do that we couldn’t imagine having to live and don’t want to, honestly, live without. As I got older, my hormones changed. My hair changed, including its color, texture, and even thickness. Then, there was a bout with adult acne. My glasses got thicker, and I’m embarrassed that my middle did, too.

But with those changes came those things I referred to earlier as my saving grace. Do you want to meet them?

Here are my miracle workers:

1. Spanx!

Excellent shapewear to smooth and slim your shape.  I don’t leave home without them.

2. Esthetician Services

Bi-monthly Chemical peels or microdermabrasion by a licensed esthetician.

3.  Facial Yoga Exercises

Exercising your face muscles tighten and tone, thus combating the signs of aging.

4. Retin A

Initially, I used to treat adult acne but learned the benefits of Retin A; it helps the skin renew itself and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. There are over-the-counter and prescription products as directed by your medical professional.

5. Heart Healthy Diet

Controlling your portion size, lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, limit unhealthy fats (saturated and trans fats), and cholesterol, low-protein sources (lean meat, poultry, low-fat dairy products), reduce sodium in your diet, plan menus and allow yourself an occasional treat.
