Even though subscriptions to magazines through different apps and e-readers are hugely prevalent, I still like to subscribe to the magazines I can hold. It’s relaxing to read about fashion and beauty (it’s a Calgon moment—take me away). I find it interesting that 90% of the articles one reads in fashion magazines focus on outer beauty.
Eleanor Roosevelt said, “No matter how plain a woman may be, if truth and honesty are written across her face, she will be beautiful.”
What is it that makes a woman beautiful as she ages with grace?
Here are my tips for achieving inner beauty so that you may age gracefully:
-
- Love one another, even your enemies.
- Forgive and forget. Forgiveness Makes you accessible; unforgiveness keeps you connected to adverse events from your past.
- Speak life. “Death and life are in the power of the tongue….” Evil thinking affects the physical body.
- Smile. Be Happy! It takes a more significant number of facial muscles to frown than it does to smile. Remember the 1988 single acapella recording by Bobby McFerrin, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy?”
- Pray for others. “And the Lord turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends; also, the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.”
- Share your blessings.
- Stop and smell the roses.
- Be thankful.
- Don’t allow anger to harden your heart. Anger rests in the bosom of fools.
- Sleep religiously. A minimum of 8 hours every night works for me.
What is your secret to achieving inner beauty and helping you age gracefully?
I agree! Inner-beauty isn’t talked about enough. My favorites are 3 & 4. Winning combo in my opinion.
Channing, I agree with you about #s 3 & 4. Thanks for your comment.
I agree with Channing this is not talked about enough! Nicely done.
Thank you Trent, I appreciate you taking time to comment.
Great article I love all 10 tips and you become whatever resonants on the inside of you. I love your outfit and I hope you bring it with you in February!
Cynthia, thank you!! I agree, you become whatever resonants on the inside of you. Get your thoughts ready to share on “aging gracefully” and outfit (s) together, I plan to feature you as charter member in my “Women of Grace” series.
I believe a big component in aging gracefully involves one taking care of themselves holistically ; mind, body and soul. If any are neglected we have disease/disorder. In our life’s which will inadvertently impact our graceful aging.
April, I agree with mind, body and spirit are key components for aging gracefully, thanks for comment.
Hi Eugenia;
Here is a standby I use to reduce wrinkles and adult acne. It is cheap and works incredibly well (for me). It is “Blue Star Ointment”. Caution: If you have sensitive skin don’t use it. I like it because of the ingredients contained. The main ingredient is camphor. I love the smell of camphor. It keeps my sinuses open. Modern research has shown that camphor does kill bacteria and fight infection. The other ingredients are salicylic acid (used for acne) and benzoic acid (used for acne) lanolin oil, mineral oil, and petrolatum (used to moisturize), etc. other minimal incredients are also included. This ointment works wonders for my skin. It minimizes wrinkles and keeps adult acne at bay. I also exfoliate every day with an exfoliating washcloth bought at Walmart. I have normal skin so if you have dry skin you may not want to use. Have a blessed day!
Love this!! Not familiar with Blue Star Ointment. Thank you for providing all the details as to how your skin benefits from using your “standyby ” and from what I see, your skin is flawless.
I will check-out Blue Star Ointment! You have inspired me to write about products that one may not have considered using as beauty/rescue aids.
You are welcome. I like using household products for my face. Lactic acid (milk) is also good for your face and body in general. Don’t throw your old milk away, put it in the bathtub. Use apple cider vinegar as an astringent. Eggs and oatmeal can be used as an effective masque. Drink apple cider vinegar and honey warm to reduce blood pressure.
Jewell, your “Road to Grace” household products are source of inspiration for me to share and learn what others are using from the kitchen or other household products for beauty.
