Oldies, But Goodies
When my daughter still lived at home for years, we traveled nearly 100 miles southeast to the nearest Nordstrom. The destination shopping trip was our girl bonding time to discover the latest beauty products. Especially when we would attend the bi-annual Beauty Trend shows in the spring and fall. Lately, I’ve found beauty items that are oldies but goodies right in my backyard.

Oldies, But Goodies

Perhaps because I’ve lived in a small town in the USA for the last 30 years, I’ve grown accustomed to limited retail beauty options. However, I just recently discovered less is more when it comes to some of my beauty regimen products.

Oldies, but goodies apply to my clothing, too.

Sure, it is fun to schedule an appointment for a free makeover, but over the years, I have discovered many beauty items available at the drugstore; they cost a fraction of the price of department stores and deliver the same results.  Here are some of my favorite beauty oldies but goodies:

Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar, Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser, Aztec Indian Clay Mask, and Witch Hazel.
My Oldies but goodies beauty products:  Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar, Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser, Aztec Indian Healing Clay Mask, and Witch Hazel.

Bragg’s Apple Cider Vinegar:
Since 1912, Bragg’s Apple cider vinegar has been highly regarded throughout history. In 400 B.C., the great Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, used it for its amazing health qualities. I mix equal parts of the clay with apple cider vinegar to make a clay mask that cleans out my pores and reduces my acne breakouts—32 oz $10.29.

Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser:
Albolene Moisturizing Cleanser has been well-known for decades as an effective and gentle makeup remover, especially for hard-to-remove “waterproof” and smudge-proof cosmetics. It is used regularly by Broadway stars. This dermatologist-recommended moisturizing cleanser liquefies on contact with skin to thoroughly dissolve makeup, dirt, and environmental grime. A 12 oz jar costs $13.00.

Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay:
This product has a cult following. I discovered this product via Pinterest and YouTube videos. Aztec Secret Healing Clay is bentonite clay from Death Valley, California, where it is sun-dried for up to six months in temperatures that sometimes reach 134 degrees.  Aztec Secret Healing Clay’s package confidently claims it’s the “world’s most powerful facial,” and after trying it myself, I would agree. My oily skin is smoother and brighter, with smaller pores.  The “secret” of this clay mask is bentonite clay, a detoxing ingredient with slightly magnetic qualities that attract and suck out the dirt and toxins hiding deep in the pores. 1 pound jar $8.33

Witch Hazel:
It is a great, inexpensive, astringent anti-inflammatory compound. 16.0 oz. $4.99.

Don’t you just love the inexpensive cost of my fave drugstore beauty products? What are your favorite oldies but goodies beauty products? Please do share.

Have a fabulous week and ………

Happy Thanksgiving
