Today marks the launch of the first annual Fierce 50 Campaign. As women over 50, we are coming together in a supportive, collaborative community to honor and celebrate one another and to share with the world what it means to be a woman at midlife and beyond. Through this collaboration, each woman has developed a unique bond with their blog partners, opening their hearts and sharing their stories in building authentic connections and relationships, we are forming a community of women who have within them over half a century of life experience and wisdom to share. We are joining as one to begin shifting a common perception of this demographic. We are here to show the world how powerful we are together and that we are only actually just starting.
Today, I’m going to introduce you to Valerie. She’s 52-years-old and blogs at Maple Leopard, fashion and travel website she started in Septemeber 2014. Val is married for 29 years and has two adult children.

What’s going on?
My blog post title is a 1971 Marvin Gaye hit about the goings on revolving around the Vietnam War veterans as they returned home from war. Fast forward to 2016, nearly every morning my BFF Cynthia asks me the very same question, “what’s going on?” as we both drive in our company cars to our first accounts in our respective territories. Me, in Central Pa and Cynthia, in the Philadelphia Collegeville area.
Every year, while the country celebrates Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, this time in January is also a personal milestone for me: my blogaversary! ?
This year, my blog, The Age of Grace, turns three. This online space continues to be a labor of love, a creative outlet to express myself, and hopefully, impact other women who aim to age gracefully, too.
I no longer do New Year’s resolutions. I’ve found greater success creating vision boards that align with my goals for the upcoming year. Also, I’ve found that my blog makes it especially easy for me to recap my escapades and accomplishments while focusing on what’s to come.
For the last two weeks, I’ve been in off-duty mode, which allowed me to take a look back over the year.
Anyone else lured into online discount deals offered by Living Social? I was! A photography class offered by the Philadelphia Photo Arts Center was a sure shot (pun intended) for me.
June is the perfect time for me to re-visit my 2015 Vision Board goals. In fact, I update and add to it quarterly. I treat it like a living document to help me stay focused and accomplish my objectives. So, last weekend, I fulfilled another aspiration when I attended my first WordCamp Philly 2015.
What is a WordCamp Philly 2015? I am glad you asked. The Girl Develop It (a gender specific diversity group that teaches women about HTML and CSS coding) website provides the perfect description. A Word Camp is a conference that focuses on everything WordPress. Word Camps are informal, affordable, community-organized events that are put together by Word Press users. This year was the fifth year for the camp with 300 people in attendance.
I am personally enjoying the fact that the world is connected by social media. The Age of Grace has had numerous occasions to link up with like-minded bloggers. I am thankful for the exposure and the aspect that we support each other as seasoned fashionistas. We have a voice too!
