A Night to Remember
This year’s Club 21Dinner Dance was a night to remember.  For twenty-one years, hubby and I usher in the Memorial Day Holiday with our annual black-tie event. We look forward to the who’s who of attendees as well as the special time with our guests.

It was a night to remember to bring together our favorite people for dinner and dancing at the sweetest place on earth, Hershey, Pennsylvania.  At this stage of our lives, we are not meeting new people. However, we have forged great friendships that we care to stay connected to.

A Night to RememberThe club is unique in that only 21 men are members at one time of this nearly 70 year old social group. A member has to resign, die or take emeritus status for new members to be considered. No funds are ever raised or platforms supported. Just a fabulous event once a year to celebrate the success and history of the men in the group. The group was birthed during the time of segregation when men of color could not eat or meet in public places. The exclusive membership to the club includes successful African American businessmen, physicians, dentists and lawyers.

I look forward to planning what to wear as well as admiring what other attendees will wear. I typically like to choose a short cocktail dress for ease in dancing but the last two years, I chose long gowns. The ball gown I chose to wear this year limited the amount of dancing because of the train on the dress. I love an elegant dress or gown, speaks to the ultimate feminine girl that I am.

The Club 21 Dinner Dance committee does a fabulous job every year sending out the formal invitations one-month before event, planning the dinner menu, selecting the band and providing fresh flower arrangements for every table.

The next morning we keep the conversation going by coming back to our home for my Sunday Brunch meal or dining at a local restaurant in the area. This year we decided to brunch at a newly renovated facility in Harrisburg called the Millworks. A former mill works business that now showcases Central Pennsylvania’s artistic talents and features local and sustainable food.

The best part of the evening was the opportunity to spend the evening with some of my favorite people, the Harold’s from Baltimore, the Jackson’s from Harrisburg and my BFF and her hubby from Philadelphia area. It was a night to remember! Life is so precious and I love that we have this special time together every year to reconnect, dance, have fun and laugh. Isn’t that what life’s all about?

Have a wonderful Memorial Day and a fabulous week.
